A woman was arrested from BM Para in Manikchak Panchayat under Murshidabad’s Lalgola police station on Thursday morning after 292 grams of heroin was recovered from her residence. The raid was conducted based on specific intelligence, and the heroin was found hidden beneath a bed. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is around ₹30 lakh.
The arrested woman has been identified as Urmila Mandal. Following the seizure, she was taken into custody under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police officials stated that the operation was carried out in the early hours, and the search led directly to the concealed contraband. No weapons or cash were recovered during the raid.
Police presented the accused before an NDPS court later in the day and requested a seven-day remand for further investigation. Officials informed that inquiries are ongoing to identify any other individuals linked to the seized heroin and to trace the source of the supply.
